Melanie leads our GHG Accounting Service Line in North America. She brings over 20 years of experience across a multidisciplinary background in academic research, industry and manufacturing, as well as corporate sustainability consulting.
Melanie has supported both private and public sector clients in accelerating their sustainability journey by providing strategic project management and subject matter expertise in corporate and product level GHG emission accounting, climate targets and abatement strategies. She was a lead instructor for Supplier LOCT, a supply chain focused climate school and climate action collaborative. She also augmented Macquarie Asset Management’s net zero team, a global private equity firm, to support infrastructure portfolio companies on their net zero transition.
Melanie worked close to 10 years for the multi-national, technical materials manufacturing company Saint-Gobain in various roles and businesses. She was head of R&D, leading a global team of engineers and managing a global IP and product development portfolio. She also spearheaded a newly created hydrogen technology platform with the goal to enable the hydrogen economy through reliable and safe sealing solutions. As head of sustainability for one of the businesses, she led the corporate sustainability strategy and reporting, developed product carbon footprint, life cycle assessment (LCA) and GHG emission accounting capabilities, drove ecoinnovation efforts, and led the circular economy program.
Melanie holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique Montreal and an MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from Saarland University (Germany) and the European Materials Engineering School.
