Matt leads Anthesis’ UK Cities and Regions Team. He previously led the SCATTER project from its inception in 2017 and a number of senior officer engagement sessions thereafter within the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Through this work, Matt has helped to inform and influence policymakers, and ultimately, helped shape the Greater Manchester 5-Year Environment Strategy published in March 2019. This was one of the most progressive plans on decarbonising nationally at the time.
Matt is a Chartered Accountant, having previously worked for PwC where he gained a diverse range of financial accounting, risk, and governance experience. This accounting experience served as a solid platform for becoming carbon literate, through IEMA qualification and seconding to CDP. He also has over 5 years of experience supporting a variety of private organisations to better measure and manage their environmental impacts developing PwC’s North West Sustainability and Climate Change consulting services.
Matt has led dozens of engagements with a high diversity of local authorities nationally. He has provided support in numerous ways; from strategy and action plan development, emissions analytics through to stakeholder engagement of officers, councilors, businesses and citizens.
