Anthesis, the largest group of dedicated sustainability professionals globally, announced the appointment of Damian Regan as Sustainability Services Leader for its Middle East operations. Damian’s appointment is in response to increased demand for services in the region to comply with emerging regulatory requirements and develop long-term, sustainable business models that create positive environmental and social impacts.
Damian has over 25 years’ experience in providing reporting & assurance services, most recently at Deloitte Middle East, where he served as the Sustainability Reporting and Assurance Leader in Dubai, and over 20 years in London working primarily in the Financial Services industry.
Damian has been a key figure in shaping global sustainability standards, with notable contributions in developing the Climate Bond Standard, his leadership in Green Bond assurance, and creating In Country Value (ICV) certification schemes across the UAE, Qatar, and Oman. He has served on numerous industry-leading committees, including the City of London’s initiative to develop Green Finance, contributing to the CFA’s Global Industry Standards Committee, and joining working groups considering the development of assurance for the Equator Principles and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). His work with asset managers and private equity firms has consistently focused on ensuring responsible investment practices and verifying compliance with ESG-related stewardship codes and ethical standards of investment performance.
Damian’s appointment demonstrates Anthesis’s commitment to driving sustainability and transparency in business practices throughout the Middle East, where it has supported local clients for over a decade on environmental performance, ESG strategy and reporting, carbon footprinting and climate risk analysis.
