Anthesis Middle East is a specialist environmental consultancy providing sustainability services to a wide range of public and private sector entities. Based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), our team of experienced professionals provide environmental management solutions across the GCC region and further afield. Our international consultants bring a world class capability, plus a strong understanding of the local regulations and drivers, to provide the best solutions to our clients.
Construction activities have the potential to cause both environmental damage and disturbance to nearby residents. As a consequence, regulators and developers routinely require that contractors manage their environmental performance, through developing and implementing management plans, monitoring of environmental effects, and demonstrating that minimum standards are achieved.
We are able to support you in implementing the right processes and procedures to meet legal requirements, contractual obligations and demonstrate good environmental performance, while ensuring that any cost and time impacts are minimized.
Overview of Construction Environmental Management services
We offer a comprehensive range of environmental services as part of construction, including predemolition surveys to identify hazardous materials such as asbestos, the development of Construction Environmental Management Plans to meet regulator and developer requirements, environmental monitoring such as noise, air quality and marine water quality, and undertaking third party audits and inspections to demonstrate compliance.
Construction Environmental Management Plans
We are able to develop comprehensive Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) to meet the planning requirements of environmental regulators, specific contractual obligations set by developers, or to meet other bespoke requirements such as LEED.
We also have extensive experience developing Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) where international funding is in place.
We develop CEMPs in accordance with best practice and following the philosophy of ISO 14001, ensuring that best practice is achieved without placing undue burdens on our clients in terms of cost or delays.
We also offer support services, including staff training, the provision of site-based environmental management staff to implement CEMPs, and liaison with regulators and clients to meet ongoing environmental permitting requirements and commitments.
A key part of the implementation of a CEMP is demonstrating that construction activities do not result in exceedances of legal standards associated with discharges or emissions to the environment. We are able to design and implement environmental monitoring programmes which include:
- Air quality
- Noise and vibration
- Marine water and sediment quality
- Marine ecology
- Soil and groundwater
- Social and wellbeing
