Home – Case Studies – Setting Science Based Targets and Decarbonisation Roadmap for New Look
The Situation
New Look, a British global fashion retailer, had the ambition of setting a Science Based Target (SBT), and required support to ensure its GHG inventory was aligned to SBT standards as well as conducting a material specific Purchased Goods & Services assessment for its fibre products.
Following this, a decarbonisation roadmap of what emission reductions could be achieved in the timeframe was required.
Our Solutions
Anthesis carried out a detailed review of New Look’s GHG inventory and identified gaps and weaknesses. Based on this, gaps were filled to ensure that the GHG inventory was accurate and robust. A deep-dive fibre baseline was calculated, and emissions factors were applied for specific materials.
Anthesis also supported with capacity building on various aspects of the inventory, including improving data collection processes for fibres and best practice methodology development. Support was provided during the SBT setting to enable the brand knowledge was captured in the process.
Based on the robust inventory created, Anthesis engaged with all relevant teams to create a clear strategy and roadmap for New Look to decarbonise its operations and supply chain.
Impacts of the Project
Ambition setting
Anthesis worked with New Look to help the organisation set its Science Based Target ambition and gain internal buy-in. We also supported the submission process for both near-term and Net Zero targets.
Decarbonisation strategy
Following this, Anthesis worked collaboratively across teams to develop a decarbonisation strategy to reduce emissions across New Look’s key hotspots, which could then be presented to the New Look C-suite.
