Solutions
Situation
A Brazilian company sought out Anthesis’ Human Rights Risk & Impact Assessment services to assess existing efforts to manage human rights risks, and to propose recommendations for improving their mitigation strategies.
Solution
We reviewed internal documents and engaged with leadership at the national and local levels of the company to understand ongoing efforts to address human rights impacts. We then conducted site visits to the company’s operations and surrounding areas and interviewed dozens of rightsholders potentially at risk from the operations, including direct employees, contract workers and community members.
Impact
Our experts assessed the identified risks based on their severity and likelihood and made recommendations to address them in line with the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
