Solutions
Situation
Henry Boot PLC developed a strategy framework to achieve net zero carbon for all direct greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
With a group of approximately 500 employees, Henry Boot has been operating in land, property, and development for 135 years. The net zero carbon framework is a critical element in the first phase of Henry Boot’s responsible business strategy, ‘135 Henry Boot’.
Henry Boot’s Net Zero Carbon Framework objectives include:
- To achieve net zero carbon for directly controlled GHG emissions (scopes 1 and 2) by 2030.
- To enhance understanding of the business’ indirectly controlled emissions and deliver reduction solutions.
- To empower its people and partners to take positive action to collaboratively decarbonise.
Solution
By collaborating with Henry Boot to evaluate existing greenhouse gas emissions in operations and business growth forecasts, Anthesis modelled an emissions reduction trajectory and the strategies needed to achieve net zero. The resulting framework defines a pathway to achieve its goals for direct greenhouse gas emission reductions by 2030, empower its stakeholders to collaboratively decarbonise, and lays the foundation for the business to understand and tackle its indirect scope 3 emissions.
Key services included:
- Understanding visions and objectives and goal setting
- Emissions modelling
- Setting carbon reduction targets
- Identifying measures and evaluating feasibility
- Procurement and energy audits
- Implementation plan
Impact
Anthesis is uniquely placed to help businesses achieve its net zero targets whilst also maximising return on investment and unlocking new revenue for businesses. Anthesis supports businesses to reach net zero through a strategic framework which focuses on four key areas: Avoid, Reduce, Invest and Innovate. The framework is aligned with the SBTi’s best practice for science-based net zero target setting.
