Developing ESG Portfolio Program for Sherpa Capital

Situation

In early 2023 Anthesis was appointed by Sherpa Capital to develop its ESG portfolio program and support portfolio companies with their sustainability strategy.

Solution

Anthesis has been working with Sherpa Capital to conduct ESG healthchecks as part of its portfolio engagement program. This process involves identifying material risks and opportunities, resulting in the development of ESG key performance indicators. We have also supported Sherpa Capital’s portfolio companies with ongoing ESG monitoring and strategy implementation support.

Impact

Management teams received bespoke training on ESG topics and the ESG regulatory reporting environment. This helped increase their understanding and awareness about which ESG topics, and ESG regulations, were material to the participating portfolio companies.

We also supported with the implementation of internal processes for data collection and determination of ESG Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This helped portfolio companies with defining ESG improvement plans, based on identified KPIs. It also enhanced the portfolio companies’ responsiveness to requests from their major clients regarding ESG topics during value chain audits.
