Freight People Achieve Carbon Neutrality

Freight People achieves carbon neutrality, reflecting their commitment to understanding the environmental impact of freight and taking meaningful steps to drive improvement across their operations

Situation

Freight People, a leading Australian freight and logistics broker, recognises that transport is one of the top global contributors to climate change. This awareness drove their 2020 commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2022. With complex supply chain networks involving hundreds of thousands of freight movements, Freight People needed expert guidance to tackle data challenges and build a credible carbon neutral framework.

Solution

Freight People partnered with Anthesis (formerly Ndevr Environmental) to manage the carbon neutral certification process. This included defining emissions boundaries, calculating the carbon footprint, identifying reduction strategies, and developing an offset plan. Anthesis also initiated a scoping study to help Freight People understand and measure emissions across their supply chain, guiding future phases of their carbon neutral journey.

Impact

Freight People achieved Climate Active carbon neutral certification for their organisation in August 2021. This milestone demonstrated their leadership in sustainable logistics, enhanced their reputation, and aligned them with their customers’ and suppliers’ sustainability goals. The initial scoping study also set the foundation for understanding and addressing emissions across their extensive supply chain network.

“Anthesis made it so simple for our company to go Carbon Neutral. They managed the entire process for us, and the knowledge their team have is second to none. Highly recommend them to anyone wanting to go Carbon Neutral.”
