Michaela is an Environmental and Planning Law expert with over 10 years’ experience. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Law in Environmental Law and has both practised law and worked in academia at a top 200 law school prior to joining Anthesis. She is also an accredited auditor under the Accounting for Nature (AfN) framework.
Michaela has deep experience in the regulatory frameworks that govern natural resource management as well as the Australian carbon regulatory framework. Michaela supports clients on land-based ACCU Scheme projects, both in an audit and advisory capacity and her experience spans across Environmental Plantings, Savanna Fire Management, Human-induced Regeneration and Soil Carbon, and other Methods. She also provides strategic advice on the Offsets strategy component of Net Zero Strategies.
Having led several early engagements on the emerging nature markets, Michaela has a keen understanding of developments in this space and the role of nature-based solutions both for achieving climate goals and in integrating nature into corporate business practices. Together with other members of the Nature team, Michaela works on supporting clients in their Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) journey.
She is passionate about the opportunities presented by carbon and nature markets for First Nations people and is proud to serve as a non-Executive Director of the Aboriginal Carbon Foundation in support of this passion.
