London September 19th 2017. Anthesis Group has reinforced their market leadership ambitions in the sustainability advisory and delivery space with the appointment of two new Board Directors.
Paul Crewe joins as Executive Director and Chief Sustainability Officer from Sainsbury’s – Argos where he has led Sustainability, Energy, Engineering, Environment and Facilities Management. His role, which has been both strategic and operational, has incorporated carbon management through design and selection of construction and engineering solutions, waste, water and energy management across the Company’s operations, and at a corporate level, measuring and reducing food waste, recycling and setting energy and carbon reduction targets to 2030, building resilience through sustainable supply chains and strengthening corporate reputation through the embracing of sustainability and tackling the challenges of climate change.
More specifically, over the 9 years that he has been with Sainsbury’s, both he and Sainsbury’s have built a strong reputation for demonstrating the business value of sustainability with multi-million pound investments in sustainability projects delivering some of the highest level of financial returns in Sainsbury’s. Most recently Crewe was instrumental in delivering the widely publicized deal between GE and Sainsbury’s. A ground-breaking arrangement that has seen Sainsbury’s – Argos commit to going 100% LED in their stores with GE providing 100% of the multi-million-pound capital investment program. For Sainsbury’s these programs have delivered a cumulative intensity reduction in energy of 40% and a 47% reduction in Carbon. Crewe has also led and delivered Europe’s largest multi roof array of Photo Voltaic Panels, the development of commercial scale deep bore ground source heat pump technologies, fast frequency demand response systems, behaviour change programs to reduce carbon, waste and water within own operations and the supplier base, and he has been involved in the championing of both operational and consumer waste programs including Sainsbury’s – Argos £10m “Waste Less Save More” program.

Luc Albert joins the Anthesis Group as Non-Executive Director. He brings with him a wealth of experience having been with Swiss Re since 1994, holding executive positions in Mexico City and Armonk (NY), including Head of Latin America and Member of the Americas Management Board. He played a leading role as Integration Manager in planning Swiss Re Group’s global integration of GE Insurance Solutions, after which he relocated to Europe serving as CEO of Swiss Re Frankona and a Management Board Member of Swiss RE Germany. In 2008 he moved to Zurich and led several markets across the region including Benelux, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, as well the Mediterranean basin, the Middle East and Northern Africa and was a member of the Reinsurance EMEA Management Team. He currently combines a part-time role as Executive Advisor for Swiss Re’s Reinsurance business in EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) with Board positions at Anivo 360 Ltd in Switzerland and African Drive in Belgium.

McLachlan continues “Both Luc and Anthesis have a keen interest in the relationship between climate change and economic impact, and in the potential for business insights through enhanced ESG evaluation at the nexus of the sustainability and digital revolutions.”
Albert joins as a Non-Executive Director and says: “I am delighted to be joining the Board of the Anthesis Group.
