Emeryville, California – 5th May, 2016 – Anthesis Group announces that it has joined the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and will use the group’s sustainability measurement tool, the Higg Index, to drive environmental responsibility across the supply chains of apparel industry-leaders.
With its membership in the SAC, Anthesis joins over 170 global brands, retailers and manufacturers, as well as government, non-profit environmental organizations, and academic institutions, which are collectively committed to improving supply chain sustainability in the apparel and footwear industries.
Anthesis will contribute analysis and expertise to support the Higg Index, which empowers brands, retailers and facilities of all sizes, at every stage in their sustainability journey, to measure their environmental, social and labor impacts, and identify areas for improvement. The Higg Index is an open source, indicator-based tool that allows suppliers, manufacturers, brands and retailers to evaluate materials, products, facilities and processes based on environmental and product design choices.
Matt Wood, Managing Director of Anthesis Mosaic said, “Since 2009 we have collaborated with hundreds of apparel and footwear companies in dozens of countries around the world to develop supply chain sustainability strategies, bringing value to our clients through direct supplier engagement, data-insights and visualization, training, and education. We are delighted to be a member of the SAC and believe the coalition will be key to driving the agenda forward for product sustainability.”
“We welcome the addition of the Anthesis Group to the Coalition, and look forward to their participation in this industry-wide effort in sustainability,” said Coalition CEO, Jason Kibbey. “Having Anthesis as part of the Coalition widens the scope of our impact within the apparel industry and accelerates the change we’re making towards responsible industry actions.”
There are currently over 170 members of the SAC, the majority of which are global brands and retailers including: adidas, C&A, Gap, H&M, Kohl’s, Levi’s, Macy’s, Nike, Puma, REI, Target, and VF Corporation.
