Responsibilities include

Project delivery

  • Detailed design of heating, power and cooling energy systems (including district heating), mapping and modelling demand, sizing plant, specifying equipment.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial expertise with the ability to spot opportunities and develop a viable sales proposition.

  • Proven ability to quickly get up to speed with new services (including of a technical nature) and be able to identify opportunities for selling these when engaging with clients in both an office based and face to face environment.

  • Previous experience in the energy efficiency, low carbon sector or the built environment.

Summary of role: This is a wide-ranging, senior role undertaking a variety of technical energy consulting projects, including district heating, energy demand and infrastructure analysis, low carbon energy strategies, and renewable energy generation. Key areas of the role will include design, project management, client management, developing new propositions and strategic input to the rapid growth of our established team.

Responsibilities

Project delivery

  • Detailed design of energy systems with a particular focus on decentralised energy. Mapping and modelling demand, sizing plant, specifying equipment.
  • Preparation of project cost estimates.
  • Project management including the co-ordination of technical, commercial and procurement advice from internal and external associates. Delivering projects on time and on budget to high customer satisfaction.
  • Acting as Client’s Engineer or Client’s Project Manager to ensure best value is obtained from contractors. Advising clients on options, risks and mitigation. Operating embedded within the client’s office where required.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, specifications and subsequent tender documentation.
  • Supporting our wider consultancy practice as to deliver high quality technical analysis and reports including energy audits, stock assessments, scoping studies, options appraisals and detailed engineering design, identifying and prioritising cost effective energy efficiency solutions (supply and demand).
  • Peer review and authorisation of colleagues’ work.
  • Overseeing and inspection of installations of measures, commissioning, organising and assessing the work of contractors.
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers.

Relationship management

Managing multiple client relationships, liaising with clients to determine their requirements, assisting clients with on-going enquires.

Commercials

  • Achieving project profitability. Tracking costs, managing and forecasting spend, ensuring that work is kept to budget. Managing resources and invoicing.
  • Providing technical sales support to sales colleagues ensuring proposals are correctly scoped and priced.

Strategic

Supporting the development of new propositions, identifying market needs and subsequent opportunities. Spotting innovations and making the business case for pursuing them.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar client-facing role in the energy and wider building services/energy efficiency industry.
  • Experience of working in decentralised energy/district heating.

Knowledge/expertise required

  • Expertise in generation technologies and renewable or low carbon heat/power sources including CHP, heat pumps, gas/ biomass boilers, controls.
  • Expertise in heat networks and distribution systems including hydraulic modelling.
  • Knowledge of building fabric, such as insulation measures, construction materials and systems.
  • Knowledge of building services within commercial and public sector operations.
  • Knowledge of current Building Regulations.

Skills/competencies required:

  • Very strong technical skills including applying engineering first principles.
  • Ability to calculate carbon savings, fuel cost savings and whole life costings of measures.
  • Client and stakeholder management (internal and external), interpersonal and communication skills, managing clients expectations, promoting excellent working relationships.
  • Negotiation and persuasion to support sales colleagues through both account management and successful tender submissions.
  • Project management techniques to deliver technical, multi-stakeholder projects on time and on budget.

Qualifications/education level required

  • Degree in Engineering subject or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IMechE, or be proactively working towards chartership.

Summary of role: We are looking for an Associate to provide administrative support, application processing and compliance checking functions in order to co-ordinate the delivery of energy efficiency measures into the UK housing sector.

Responsibilities

The role will involve some or all of the following key accountabilities depending on volumes of work:

  • Providing administration support to enable the programme manager to deliver the services required by the scheme. This is likely to include:
    • Checking, amending and inputting accurate information into specific software/key databases.
    • Running reports and updating databases on completion of reports.
    • Providing accurate information from software/databases to the programme manager in order to enable finance department to invoice and/or credit clients.
    • Liaising with other staff to ensure project is administered correctly within set processes.
    • Liaising with external stakeholders (contractors and clients) to collect data and resolve errors/omissions in data received.
  • Maintaining a ‘professional face’ for the company.
  • Carrying out desk-based checks on applications to identify any anomalies or oddities within them.
  • Keeping accurate records of communication with clients, progress of installations using the appropriate in-house software applications.
  • Recording and investigating customer complaints/technical monitoring failures according to the complaints procedure while keeping the client and programme manager informed of the resolution and/or outcome.

Key performance indicators

  • Compliance with contractual Service Level Agreements, that will be identified by the Programme Manager.
  • Checking and validating data within agreed timescales.
  • Accurate and complete paperwork following thorough desk-based compliance checks.

Requirements

Proven experience in an administrative capacity relating to compliance and quality assurance checking of documents, processing high volumes of documents.
